Manifesto
An experiment in social
We all take a lot of photos, and most of them never reach the people we care about. 9PM is a simple, private place to see what everyone’s been up to.
These are the principles behind our experiment.
1. A shared moment
The name is the idea: everyone’s day, revealed at 9PM. No infinite feed. No fight for your focus. Just a small daily ritual shared with the people you care about.
2. People you choose
9PM is built around the people you choose. Profiles are private. Connections are intentional. The experience starts with the people you trust. A healthy community is a design decision, made on day one.
3. Be part of something
Social became a stage. Follower counts, algorithms, random people all over our feeds. Slowly, our silly photos couldn’t find their place. 9PM is built for participating with people you know, not performing for people you don’t.
4. Technology for people
Technology can do incredible things. We want it to help people express themselves, remember their lives, and feel closer to one another. Technology is beautiful when it’s helping us connect in ways that feel meaningful, human, and personal.
5. Social is everything
Forget creators and audiences. Social is people: friends, families, small communities sharing simple moments of their lives. A simple idea. Worth building for.
6. The everyday matters
A bad photo of a good dinner. A good photo of a bad haircut. The dog, the burger, the commute, a completely common Tuesday. The things that feel silly are usually the things we most want to see from people we love.
7. Safety by design
Safety is much more than moderation. It’s who can find you, who can see you, how people interact, and how a product makes you feel. We want people to feel safe and share without feeling judged.
8. Feel good
9PM is an experiment in positive social. Our mechanic shapes the community that grows inside it. So we think hard about what gets rewarded, what creates pressure, and what makes people feel good about participating.
9. A visual diary, one day at a time
One day is just one day. But one 9PM after another becomes a visual diary of your life, a series of simple moments that make your life special. The dinners. The trips. The bad haircuts. The quiet Tuesdays.
The ordinary adds up.
See you at 9PM.
